The right method depends on the defect, pipe geometry, access, local conditions, and the amount of serviceable pipe—not which method a contractor happens to sell.
Cleaning versus repair
Snaking and jetting restore flow; they do not rebuild a collapsed pipe. But a root finding alone also does not automatically prove full replacement is necessary.
Spot repair and excavation
Direct excavation can be appropriate for a localized failure and provides physical access, but restoration and site constraints matter.
Lining and pipe bursting
Trenchless methods can reduce surface disruption. They still require suitable pipe conditions, access, measurements, and a clearly defined final diameter and warranty.
Do not enter contaminated spaces or attempt work that exposes you to sewage, unstable excavation, pressurized lines, or electrical hazards.
